Modern meets natural: Located on a slope on the edge of Salzburg, the new house belonging to a young family stands in green surroundings, its modern cube shape containing not only a retreat close to nature, but also a generously lit hub for its residents' lives.
The striking architecture continues, uninterrupted, into the interiors. Tailored to the residents' individual needs and preferences, the clear structures, open areas, and minimalist interiors shape the spacious living space. The cooking/dining area is in the centre, connected to the living room above it via an open staircase. Different living scenarios were approached from a design perspective using uniform, dark-coloured parquet: Unicopark, Handcrafted Oak Fulvo.
Installed in different plank widths and lengths of up to four metres, the authentic-wood parquet not only looks lively, but also brings out the exclusive character of the large rooms. "The long planks are impressive, and with the different dimensions, it’s not easy to spot a repeating pattern. The natural character of oak contributes to this perfectly," clarified the owners of the property, thus explaining the reasons for their choice. The natural aesthetic has not by chance: the knots and cracks are carefully highlighted through elaborate manual procedures. Traditional brushing and planing techniques underscore the rustic structure of the wood and place a spotlight on the refined natural-oiled surface. As a result, every plank is just as unique as the living spaces themselves.
