DFB Campus in Frankfurt

A Place of Unity and Diversity: The new campus for the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt accommodates the organisation’s various divisions in one central location. Both the building itself and the infrastructure around it were designed with a deliberately open approach in order to achieve a balanced connection with the environment.

New football fields, sports facilities and the DFB campus now stand on the former site of a racecourse in Frankfurt’s municipal forest. This natural environment matters not only because of its urban significance, but also because of the protected space for athletes to focus on their training without disruptions.

Designed by kadawittfeldarchitektur, the DFB campus feels like a compact city where different ‘districts’ find themselves under the same roof. The north-to-south lying roofed Sport Boulevard is particularly striking, connecting all the areas and facilitating navigation. This large indoor space extends across all floors and, thanks to its glass facades, is open to the outdoors. It serves as a communication link, inviting informal interactions through visual contact with the sports pitches and connecting the individual administrative and academic departments.

The philosophy of ‘unity in diversity’ manifests itself in the interior design. Warm colours are predominant in the administrative areas and the top-management level, and so are high-quality materials, such as our oak parquet in the smoked version of the Cleverpark 1250 format. Monopark Oak strip format was chosen for the workshop and meeting rooms in order to visually separate these spaces without sacrificing the natural quality and aesthetic of wood in these places intended for people to congregate.

The DFB campus in Frankfurt am Main is thus not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a place that brings unity and diversity together in perfect harmony.
